Marine poem/letter sent to his dad. - brainhop
|
>>> This is a poem being sent from a Marine to his Dad.
>>> For those who take the time to read it, you'll see a letter from
>>> him to his Dad at the bottom. It makes you truly thankful
>>> for not only the Marines, but ALL of our troops.
>>>
>>>
>>> THE MARINE
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>> We all came together,
>>> Both young and old
>>> To fight for our freedom,
>>> To stand and be bold.
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>> In the midst of all evil,
>>> We stand our ground,
>>> And we protect our country
>>> >From all terror around.
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>> Peace and not war,
>>> Is what some people say.
>>> But I'll give my life,
>>> So you can live the American way.
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>> I give you the right
>>> To talk of your peace.
>>> To stand in your groups,
>>> and protest in our streets.
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>> But still I fight on,
>>> I don't bitch, I don't whine.
>>> I'm just one of the people
>>> Who is doing your time.
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>> I'm harder than nails,
>>> Stronger than any machine.
>>> I'm the immortal soldier,
>>> I'm a U.S. MARINE!
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>> So stand in my shoes,
>>> And leave from your home.
>>> Fight for the people who hate you,
>>> With the protests they've shown.
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>> Fight for the stranger,
>>> Fight for the young.
>>> So they all may have,
>>> The greatest freedom you've won.
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>> Fight for the sick,
>>> Fight for the poor.
>>> Fight for the cripple,
>>> Who lives next door.
>>>
>>>
>>>
>>> But when your time comes,
>>> Do what I've done.
>>> For if you stand up for freedom,
>>> You'll stand when the fight's done.
>>>

>>> March 23, 2003
>>>
>>> Hey Dad,
>>>
>>> Do me a favor and label this "The Marine" and send it to
>>> everybody on your email list. Even leave this letter in it. I
>>> want this rolling! all over the US; I want every home reading
>>> it. Every eye seeing it. And every heart to feel it. So can you
>>> please send this for me? I would but my email? time isn't that
>>> long and I don't have much time anyway. You know what Dad?
>>> I wondered what it would be like to truly understand what JFK
>>> said in His inaugural speech.
>>>
>>> "When the time comes to lay down my life for my country,
>>> I do not cower from this responsibility. I welcome it."
>>>
>>> Well, now I know. And I do. Dad, I welcome the opportunity
>>> to do what I do. Even though I have left behind a beautiful
>>> wife, and I will miss the birth of our first born child, I would
>>> do it 70 times over to fight for the place that God has made
>>> for my home.? I love you all and I miss you very much. I wish
>>> I could be there! when Sandi has our baby, but tell her that I
>>> love her, and Lord willing, I will be coming home soon. Give
>>> Mom a great big hug from me and give one to yourself too.

From a Vietnam Veteran, mother, wife and daughter of men in our military, This poen certainly fits how all of us in the military feel.
Freedom is not Free
The devil lurks everywhere to enslave each of us.
I will support all our military. They fight for all of us that want a better life.
We loss children to war as in Iraq or other conflicts. But what the protesters do not fuss about is the children that are lost to divorce, abuse and mistreatment in our own land.
Thank you for posting this.

It has always come to my attention, how people are so ready to let our troops go, but that they would never do it. I am glad we have a strong military to defend this country under God. I am currently in 10th grade and I've known since I was 9, I was going to be a Marine. My father was a computer communications systems operator, and he passed away overseas. I just wish I could bring him back. Thank you, Marines. Thank you Navy, Air Force, and Army.
>I also wish to contact these two. Does anyone know how and where I could?

To the young 10th grader...from reading your email, it appears your father was military as well. My hat is off to him, and you for your desire to be a Marine. I would suggest that you honor your fathers committment, duty and loyalty to our great Nation before you enlist. It is every father's wish to see his son do better. Continue your education, go to college before making that committment to God and country. What do I know you may ask? Like your father, I'm a patriot and defender of democracy. I spent 30 years and 14 days serving our great nation and just recently retired from active military duty. I'm a father and wished my son had gone off to finish school...it was my dream to see my son accomplish something I had not. Like you, my son had dreams of "joining" the force since he was 8 or 9 years old. It was all he wanted to do. He enlisted and volunteered for a deployment to Iraq last year. My wife and I buried him with full military honors just last fall. He did what he felt was right and became my hero...his mother has other opinions though. Go on son, finish school first, make your dad proud! Like my son he is looking down from above, he will be proud.

Same could be said for all soldiers of every nationality.... We must remember Iraq didn't attack us. Even knowing this... how as American could I not pray for and honor the precious American Soldier.

FROM THE AUTHOR:
Don't know who will see this but thank you for posting my poem on this site.Since I wrote this poem I have finished my contract in the Marines and received an Honorable Dischard on July 15th 2005. I wrote this poem just before going ashore into Iraq. I never expected to see it go as far as it did. But my goal was to let people see into the hearts of how we as Marines (and I'm sure the other armed forces) feel.If anyone would wish to contact me and I can talk a little more in detail you can email me at Lumberjack.aaron@gmail.com. But to the web page originator....Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me share my writtings.

Support the troops yes, but not the mission. We sent our troops to invade a country that did not attack us, nor had weapons of mass destruction. We were lied to by our president and his administration, and anyone that didn't go along with their distortions were labeled unpatriotic traitors. Now look back and see what a blind rush to war got us. It was the same thing in Vietnam, but apparently people never learn. Now our young men and women pay the price with their lives lost for absolutely nothing. Our enemies have multiplied like flies because of our bumbling misadventure. This is what happens when you vote for morons. If there were a bunch of Iraqis driving humvees down the streets of the U.S., and kicking in the doors of your neighbors houses looking for weapons, you can guarantee you'd be doing the same thing the Iraqis are now to our troops. Use your mind, and ignore the propaganda machine. Or watch Fox, and watch one brain washing propagandist after another spoon feed you your opinions because you're incapable of thinking for your self.

Right-wing propaganda. If you don't support the war, you hate the troops and are anti-American.
"Fight for the people who hate you,
With the protests they've shown."

My Dad and I were Marines. The absolute best outfit on this earth in my book. I just wish the political leaders had to go to Quantico before they ever tried to lead this country. We need leaders who understand leadership. If this country is ever going to survive, we will have to get rid of the professional politicans. They live as royalty and think we are their fodder. Marines to a man will give their all to serve their country. Don't call on the Marines unless you really mean it and if you do mean it; take the leash off and let them run.

This is a great poem. I am proud of all of our soldiers. My son was a Marine who is not in Iran because he was in a helicoptor accident and has a metal plate in his back. He would have gone back if he could have.
