The extreme sensitivity over a "hello salute" to Bush is born out of their deep insecurity. A Country who has never been able to cut the umbilical cord from the Queen deserves to be a bit Paranoid.

Give me a BIG break here. What a bunch of morons. It was just two guys being friendly with each other. I'm quite certain that the PM knows that Australia is not subservient to the US. Anyone that objects to a playful salute is simply a pathetic, whiney twink.

The salute is a way to show mutual respect, not subservience. This is how it is taught in the U.S. military and across the globe.

It was just a joke. That is what is the matter with the world today. Maybe, next time, Bush can give him a salute. We won't complain.

Bush is a feckless boob who doesn't deserve a salute joke or otherwise. He made sure he didn't have to serve by hiding in the National Guard. And he didn't complete that service either. He has spent the last seven plus years messing up America just like he messed up in most of his business ventures.

Hail Australians,
As an American I'm sorry that some folks are so offended by the salute Prime Minister Rudd gave my president.
I wonder what has happened to our humanity? When did flipping someone a salute become so offensive? I've saluted, bowed, and just about bounded when I saw someone I had only met once before. How sad for the human race that a mere greeting is taken so out of proportion. At the rate we are going the wrong gesture will get us to kill each other for no apparent reason.
Who is responsible? I believe the media and the camera carrying clowns that sneak out from under the fungus on the ground to take compromising pictures or videos with the sole purpose of lining their pockets with money without concern of the truth behind the picture. Add to this the professional liers, exxagerators, demoniac political wanabees who are the news media and the drama gremlins in the political arena that like a leech attached to the jugular of the world build their financial empire around lies, misinformation and the drama they spin.
I understand that money motivates them but what really confuses me is why do people with common sense believe them. How does something so innocent, as in this case, a salute, enrage people and becomes news worthy. Shame on the money hungry creeps, the news media and associate gremlins and shame on the people who would be guided by them.
I salute Prime Minster Rudd. You seem like a really nice man who's humor has not been drained by the like. You are taller than the people who accuse you. The world urgently needs leaders like yourself who are secure in who you are and don't feel diminished because you greet another politian with a little enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is a good starting point for negotiations between men, womem and nations. I salute the Australian people who will not follow the stupidity trail left by the rats dropping the drama crumbs. Thank You, J
