San Antonio is just being jerks because they want to try to draw tourists with the bench. It's about money, its always about money.

Vivian, the Larry King show plus other tributes etc. concerning Johnny Cash, when you listen carefully, it is very plain that Johnny Cash was
very upset about something for to enter a cave when he at last had his freedom from the marriage with you..he wanted to die ??? when he was free to marry whom he wanted !!! Is that how one must feel when in love with someone they really want ?? wish to die ??? I dont think so. Cash settled for second best when he picked up with her. and she should have known better than to go after a married man with small children.....he was not with you ...because of his chosen career. He chose to be apart from you. then when he woke up to the fact that it was really over....he felt sorry for himself. and he married one whom he spent lots of time ... trying to convince the rest of the world that he supposedly loved her....really, if he could have undone what he did. he would have thrown her out......she didnt raise Johnnys children,, YOU did.......You had his love even though you were not with him.....he lavished it on her....with YOU in his mind really.
He held hands with me for some time....while he was married to her.....I was far too shy to speak with him.....If he had done that if I was married to him....I would have been really upset at him for paying THAT much attention to his fans. So I reason he was not too much in love with Carter. He was too dramatic ,,,,trying to convince the world how he felt....when you love somebody, you convince THEM....not the world !!!
As far as the bench that the city does not want to part with, maybe it is well for all the world to see he REALLY DID LOVE VIVIAN...his WIFE...mother of his four daughters.
take care Vivian.....I did feel for you when I realized what happened. and for your daughters. Carter damaged then. and many do not realize it.....I am praying for you and them.
A concerned fan of Johnny Cash and Vivian Cash. bye for now......................

the San Antonio city in Texas do not display much caring for other people. If they were told
just what that bench meant to you, they are very very unjust and hateful not to let you replace the bench so you may have it for a loving momento of your childrens Father.
That says a lot for San Antonio City ...
Actions speak much louder than words.
They should show you much more respect.

I certainly don't believe for a minute that Johnny Cash and June Carter personified the great American love story. I think the public only put up with her, because they (we) loved Johnny Cash. She was baggage that came along with him.

Johnny and Vivian Cash's life was and is on display for anyone and everyone to visualize. June and Johnny would not have married and stayed together that many years if they had not loved each other. It is possible to love 2 people but with saying that someone always gets hurt when this occurs.
As for the bench it should have gone to Vivian but as we all know she is also gone from this world.

Johnnie was his music. This is a big part of him that Vivian wanted to carve out of the man. Because music was such a big part of Johnnie, the marriage was destined to die. Without a doubt Johnnie was wrong to go outside his marriage to other women, I can see the admiration that he received from them in response to his music was very attractive to him,

I think that Johnny did love vivian, but it seems like she didn't support his mucic carreer. And if getting with June made him happy then why not? You cant help who you love or when your gonna love them.

Johnny Cash was a singer and did not have that support from his first wife. Can't say Vivian did not love him, but you need to support your husband. June Carter was in his life for a reason. Everything happens for a reason. He stopped the drugs because of her help and they stayed together until the end. And he followed her just 4 months later. That say's it all.

I hope that I can one day have half the love that Johnny and June had. I feel for Vivian, but you really can not help you and when you love. I'm sure Vivan was happier in the end too.

Love is it all about just one human being that you meet? I don't believe it! Obviously Vivian was a person John was in love with or he would not have had children with her right? Its easy to criticize but we are human and June's entrance into John's life was not just coincidence. What they both chose to do after was their choices and quite frankly you don't stay with someone you can not stand especially with the money they both had. They loved each other and I am sure that John still loved Vivian as the mother of the girls. The movie portrayed her as a fish wife but I think anyone involved in a divorce knows that sometimes that drama is real. We did not get to see June and John's drama's but it is interesting that she helped him with his addictions!

Johnny Cash did love Vivian & he tried to provide for her & the girls by playing on the road. The road life, the music was the only way he knew how. He became famous & gave her everything she wanted BUT, it was never enough for Vivian. She never had any interest in the music business & never even wanted to talk about it. THAT was the beginning of the strain on their marriage. June grew up in the Music Industry & not only knew what it was like but "what" it could do to a person who was tired, torn & tortured. John & June were friends before they were lovers & she put a stop to it. When John began spiraling out of control it was June who was there(along w/the Carter family) that helped John face & rid himself of his inner demons. June Carter saved Johnny Cash's life. He loved her & she was afraid of being in love again & failing. In the end, they worked it out & their children became a part of their lives, even when they welcomed their son Jack Cash Jr. into their lives. See the Movie, watch the documentaries, read the autobiographies. It tells it all !!!

Johnny was a great man. Somtimes even good marriages fail. The drugs did not help, it seems like Vivian wanted everything to be perfect all the time and did not even want to know or care about the drugs. She wanted only perfect. And you can't have perfect in life all the time. June and Johnny were destined to be together. They were soul mates. I hope they are together now and touring heaven with their songs!

Johnny and June rock! Vivian is a spoiled princess brat. J & J had much in common: love of country living, poor rural upbringings, hope in music, and stage personality. Most of all they were both poets! May their ring of fire forever burn into the hearts of many!

Shut-up to all the june carter haters!!! john gave vivian everything she wanted ,but it was never enough, but she didn't want june to have him.she could tell that they were best friends, and she and john were never friends, only married to each other! you don't look at are hang out with or marry someone and stay with them for more than 35 years, unless that deep love and friendship is there. they just had much more in common.vivian wanted the money, but she did not want him to be gone with june.!Hello!! you made your choice, things worked out just as they should have,God is always in control, and I know june and john are having a jamboree with elvis, buddy holly, richie valens, and all the rest!!

Ok, So all of you people are still hating on june or Vivian. Get over yourselfs, don't you relize that they passed on. Do hate on somebody you hardly know. So what if you were growing up while they came out to be wonderful stars, that doesn't mean you there in the spur of the moment. Nobody knows what really went wrong or what could have been fixed. Don't you get it, achknoledge what they stand for, embrace them don't tore them down. Love Vavian for raising such wonderful kids, and how good they grew up to be. Even if John wasn't there most of the time, I'm pretty sure he tried his best. June Carter had a powerful Voice, even if most of you don't agree. Put yourselfs in her kids place, nobody want's to here their mother being called names. So everybody let go of the past, what happened......happened. You can't change the past and even if you could you can't stop faith. So let Vivain, June, and Johnny rest in peace.

All I can say is, the way Johnny Cash looked at June Carter was real. You cannot deny that a man who would chase after a woman for so long and be that vulnerable is not in love. Vivian was just not the one for him, seeing she did not understand why he wanted to sing and pay attention to the fans that made his dream come true. SHe may have been a great woman but not for him and June was someone he met late in life but was supposed to be with for the rest of it.

All of you need to get a clue!!! That movie was fiction. The timeline was way off. The song I walk the line, was written for Vivian. Johnhy Cash admitted on several ocasions that it was his drug abuse that had caused his divorce. He said he would probably still be married to Vivian if it were not for the drug abuse. And PLEASE stop making excuses for a drug addict.

People need to understand: Hollywood is Hollywood. They're special. And I don't necessarily mean that in a loving manner. As for the movie, "Walk the Line," I just finished watching it today and it is a wonderful movie. But it's just that: a movie. It's not historically accurate just because someone wrote a script about someone's life. Which is why it's a movie and not a documentary. As for the battle between Vivian's fans and June's fans...get over yourselves. You all come off as though each of them were martyrs when, in reality, it's just another love story--in REAL life. It's not all fairy tale romance and happily ever afters. And, really, the fact of the matter is, he moved on. So stop disgracing his name and all he stood for by slandering the loved ones in his life and misinterpreting what they meant to him. Only he knows that. And that's the way it's just going to have to remain now that he has passed away. Get over it and get over yourself, let the dead rest in peace.

June Carter Cash was a good woman she saved Jonny's life many times and were was Vivian yes I know she had 4 girls to raise I have kids myself but she could have given Jonny more moral support and not always thought the worst about everything. I think June saved his life Vivian didn't give a damn she didn't even pretend to give a damn. not in my eyes she treated him like a child and not a man. If it wasn't for June Carter and her family Johnny wouldn't have lived as long as he did.

The movie is fiction, yes. But facts are facts. He was commited to making a life with one woman. He was so in love with her that he didn't care what her family thought and proceeded to have FOUR children with her. He was on the road most of the time. Vivian wasn't supportive?? WHen hundreds of women were after her husband? Would you be supportive? Please! I understand that people get bored or fall out of love, that's life nowadays. We are so use to it. But please, don't forget that there were children involved. June and Johnny may have fallen in love as well, but good God,what about the first wife who staye at home and raised the kids? How many choices did she have back then? Society is going to pot by supporting this phenomenon. I pray tis never happens to any of you, because it absolutely is devastating.

Everyone who says that Johnny did not love June or whatever are crazy. Everything in Walk the Line happened in real life. Can't you tell by watching the movie that he was completely in love with her. He could not help his feelings. He did do Vivian wrong, but the truth is he was totally in love with June. I do feel sorry for Vivian, but I guess that he just could not help his feelings.

That is so true. None of us knows what went on behind closed doors with Johnny, June, or Vivian. Vivian's daughter is saying that that they portreyed Vivian wrong by acting like she did not support his career, but Rosanne or one of the daughters is saying that is not true. None of us really know except them. Vivian and June both seemed like good women. The girls say that she was a great woman and so was June. I cannot imagine the pain that Vivian felt knowing that her husband was obsessively in love with another woman, but I don't think that John or June meant to hurt her and that they still felt bad about all of it until the day they died.

Thing is, there is no way, that every aspect of every persons life in this singer's bio, is going to be portrayed in a two hour movie. I think Vivian and John were in love, or else they would not have had four children together, or stayed together as long as they did. Unless you have lived it, you have no idea, how difficult it is to be married to someone with an addiction. Factor in infidelity, and it's almost impossible. I think Vivian was a good mother, and she had to think about the toll this kind of atmosphere was having on her kids. I think she must have prayed daily for normalcy, and bless her heart, she didn't get it while she was married to John. I don't think John planned to fall in love with June Carter. I think it happened because they spent so much time together in thier careers, and because they had much in common. I don't view June as the homewrecker. I think all three of them had a part in it. That is my impression. This is definitely not the ideal American love story....'Leave it to Beaver' was, but, who has that?! Do the best you can. I do have a very DEFINITE opinion about those SOBs who wouldn't let Vivian have that bench. They should have let her keep it. Without the words, it's just a bench. No value. With the words, the value is significant, but more so to Vivian, because the words belonged to her. Since when did vandalizm become government property, anyway? Bastards.

Its a beautiful story either way you look at it. Hollywood couldnt tell them what was what they fell in love and worshiped the ground each other walked on. It was the most romantic damn thing i've ever heard of and It should be remembered and told and everyone should be more like Johnny and June. As for vivian .. she really was a ****. She didnt try to hard to keep him around and quite obviously that wasnt who he was meant to be with.

Don't believe everything that Hollywood puts in thier movies. I don't think it is fair for Vivian Cash to be judged by a Hollywood movie. It's all about money and adding as much drama to attract an audience and bring in the money.

Ginnifer Goodwin was a great actress to play Vivian Cash.Viv was probably a **** who always wanted her own way.At least in the movie once she was nice to June {Reese Witherspoon.}
Walk the Line is my fave movie of all time.We acted it out at school and I was June.
I really think that Vivian was a nice person but just needed help to see it all.

What are all you Vivian basher's basing your facts on? A movie that had John Carter Cash as the advisor? Gee, is that maybe a biased opinion?
Vivian was a wonderful wife, mother and a true lady.
They don't make many of them anymore. She had more class then June could have ever dreamed of having.
June had to live with what she did to Vivian and the girl's that she treated very unfairly for many years.
The end of the love story was the same as the beginning, Johnny and Vivan spending the last days of there lives together. How wonderful is that?
This was Junes time to sit back and watch and not be able to do anything.
How does it feel June ??
Vivian your class and dignity lives on longer then you will ever know.

I think that all three of them (Vivian, Johnny, and June) were all good people, who shared impossible circumstances. Yes, Johnny was a womanizer, but probably 90 per cent of touring pop singing stars and 90 percent of professional athletes with looks and charisma and youth do that sort of thing. It's easy to resist tempation when one doesn't have that type of opportunity to be tempted. Johnny and Vivian had their time together; it was hardly surprising that it didn't last a lifetime. Johnny got into drugs and hit rock bottom. That sort of thing happens, to, among others, the brother of Joachuin Phoenix, who lost his life to drugs. Joachuin was with his brother when the latter died of an overdose. Perhaps that's why his portrayal of the rock bottom Cash was so believable. The movie didn't cover Cash's ultimate rededication to his religious roots. As others have noted, the marriage to June endured for 35 years. One hopes that Vivian had a happy 2nd act, as well. But it's a bit sad to think that she wanted the park bench. There is perhaps a window into her spirit to consider that. But there are many possible interpretations.

Its true, Johnny's first wife was portrayed to be a very unhappy, ungrateful woman....it seemed she was never happy nor did she want to be a part of his entertainment life.....but seemed to like the benefits she reaped from his hard work, sweat and tears.....it was their life.....as one person stated.....had Johnny and June not loved each other.....how could 35 years have gone by so quickly for them.....if Vivian had loved Johnny, why did she not try to be more involved in his whole life....after all.....are we...THE FANS...not the reasons why these people sacrifice their family time to entertain us.....shame on us for passing all the JUDGEMENTS....LET US CAST NO STONE UPON OUR GLASS HOUSES

John and June had TRUE love, June wrote rThe ring of ring of fire about her desire to be with him. John and vivian simply married just to marry. John and June had the kind of love the rest of the world only dreams about. June also wrote many poems to or about him. and They wrote "where did we go write" together about their feelings for one another. If you doubt, all you have to do is watch the way they awere togehter and how they looked at t each other, even on stage. THAT IS NOT FOR SHOW! that my friends is simply love..and wanting the whole damn world to know about it. Four months after June passed John did, of a broken heart . They were soul mates.

WELL I HAVE READ ONE BOOK ON CASH, AND WAITING TO READ MAN IN BLACK AND THEN I WANT TO READ WALK THE LINE BY VIVIAN CASH,,,,, SOME OF THE TIME LINE WAS OFF IN THE MOVIE,, BUT, THERE IS ONE THING I DID GET FROM THE LIFE OF CASH, THAT GOD STILL REDEEMS AND HOW HIS HAND MOVED IN JOHNS LIFE IS A MIRACLE THOUGH THE MAN GOOFED UP A LOT,,,, AND THE OTHER THING, I FELT LIKE THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RUNNER UP MOVIE TO WALK THE LINE TO COVER MORE OF HIS MARRIAGE TO BOTH WOMAN,, FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND HE ALWAYS LOVED VIVIAN, BUT LIFE MOVED ON AND SO DID SHE,,, SHE MARRIED HER SECOND HUSBAND A DAY AFTER THEIR DIVORCE, I DIDNT FEEL SHE WAS NOT INTRESTED IN HIS CAREER,,, SHE SAID IN THE ONE SCENE, I WANT YOU JOHN, I WANT YOU, WHETHER THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED I DONT KNOW,,
BUT IN SOME WAYS IT REMINDS ME OF PREACHERS WIVES,, THEY ARE CALLED TOO, BUT SOME TIMES THEY DO GET UPSET AND WANT THEIR HUSBANDS TO THEM SELVES, ISNT THAT KINDA WHAT HAPPEED WITH JOHN AND VIVIAN,, AFTER ALL SHE WAS BUSY RAISING THEIR CHILDREN AND COULDNT BE THERE EVERY MOMENT WITH HIM, DIDNT MEAN SHE DIDNT WANT TO BE,,,
JUNE WAS ALWAYS IN HIS LIFE BEFORE HE MET HER, THROUGH HER FAMILY AND GOSPEL MUSIC,,,,,
GOD BLESS THEM ALL AND MAY THEY FIND REST IN THE LORD,, THEIR STORY AND THE TRUTH OF IT LAYS IN HEAVEN,, I HEARD IT SAID ONE TIME, THEY EACH HAVE THEIR STORY AND THEIR SIDE AND THE TRUTH PROABLY LIES INBETWEEN,,,, KEEPING THAT IN MIND,,
